Class Registers are taken at the end of the ten minute staggered entrance. Children have until this time to arrive in the class – at this point classroom doors are closed and after this parents/carers must call the School Office where a member of school staff will come to your designated entrance.
Children arriving up to 10 minutes after their ten minute staggered time will be marked as late. Any arrival after this period will be recorded as an unauthorised absence.

If a pupil has a period of 10 lates in the academic year the school has the right to record any further lates as unauthorised absence. The policy is in line with Wakefield Council Code of Conduct on Penalty Notices and falls under Section 44 of the Education Act 1996.

Student Absence

Please let us know before 9am or as soon as you can if your child is unwell and unable to attend school. This can be done by calling 01977 702261 and speaking to our School Office or leaving a voicemail message. If we have not heard from you, you should expect to receive contact from Mrs Hughes (Attendance Officer) or office staff to ascertain reason for absence.

Where a pupil has 10 or more unauthorised absences, the Academy will work with the Education Welfare Department to seek a penalty notice. Where a pupil’s absence falls below acceptable standards, parents will be contacted by our Attendance officer to discuss the situation. Children below 90% attendance are classed as “Persistent Absentees”. Children have a right to full attendance, not a term time holiday. Please see the Multi Academy Trust attendance policy for more details.
